Photos posted from USA Masters Throws Championships in Lisle

Jerry Bookin-Weiner went beyond the call of duty recently. He’s officially the USATF masters throws coordinator. But he’s also hefting a camera as well. His photos from the recent USATF Masters National Throws Championships in Lisle, Illinois, are now posted here. Last year (as noted in comment below), Jerry also got some shots of a legend: Olympic discus champion Mac Wilkins, who spoke at the meet banquet. Mac turns 60 in November, BTW.

Mac Wilkins, skinnier than we remember him as the 1976 gold medalist but still sporting a beard, spoke at Portland. (Photo by Jerry Bookin-Weiner)

Thanks to Ken for putting this up, but unfortunately if you click on the link you see the pictures from last year in Portland (where Mac Wilkins was our host and spoke at the banquet), not the pictures from Lisle this year.

Until he corrects the post above, go to this link to see all the pictures:

The 2010 pictures are below those from 2009 and are organized by the flights in the meet.

In addition to his tireless work on behalf of the Throws community in his capacity as USATF Masters Throws Coordinator, Jerry has proven to be quite adept behind the camera lens.
We are very lucky to have someone of his intellect, drive, and foresight working for us, even though in my heart I wish he were able to be competing with us on the athletic fields. Thanks for the photos as well as your service to USA Track & Field.

Bob said it so well. Jerry, we hope you join us in the circle again soon. Thank you for all you do for us.

Jerry, thanks for speaking to me after the Nationals about my hammer throw technique. I’ll remember your advise next year in the same circle at Worlds….
