To the visitors of masterstrack.com: Thanks a million!

In late 1999, not long after Dave Clingan and I merged our masters track Web sites, a visible hit counter was installed on the home page. Early today, it clicked over to 1 million. That’s a million page views. Incredible. Dave and I don’t measure our success by Web traffic, but we certainly know a Big Number when we see one. So we’d like to thank you, our visitors, for having made masterstrack.com the No. 1 masters track site (in Google rankings) for at least five years and helping us reach this milestone.

Now we should note that the whole site accounts for many more page views than a million. (And my original site accounted for hundreds of thousands of extra page views). So the clicker number is pretty bogus. But what the heck. It looks cool.
Over the years, we’ve subscribed to several hit-count services. One even told us what countries our visitors come from. Last I saw, we had 120-plus nations on the list — including some we’d never heard of.
It helps that hundreds of Web sites link to this one — everyone from USATF and IAAF to authors Margaret George and Steve McGill.
Even Lyrics World sings our praises!
I keep reminding myself that this is “only a hobby, only a hobby.” But look for some professional site improvements in coming weeks and months.
Masters track is bigger than all of us put together. So there’s always more to report and celebrate (or berate).
This site is two men’s modest efforts to give y’all the respect and attention you deserve.
Thanks for coming!

You two are the backbone of the communications that keep us together as a community. Your work is valuable and appreciated. Too often we come here and read or check rankings and never think twice about your hard work or our ‘expectation’ that it will be here for us every day. Hats off in Texas and Thank You!
