World champ Carol Finsrud donates field for Texas throws meets
Seth’s note continues:
I am asking for help on a few items:
1) The approximate cost of the cage, pad, and installation is about $5000. The Lions can do part of this, but need a little help. If you or a business you are associated with might be able to assist, that sure would be appreciated.
2) When constructing the pad, there is an aluminum frame available through Gil Athletics that is set in the concrete to maintain the form. Cost is $620 plus shipping. I know that can probably be constructed for less. So if you or someone you know can possibly do this, that would be nice to know. Here is the link showing the frame (item 367) and also a specs page.
3) If you are in the Central Texas area and know someone who does concrete work, please contact me. We want to get this completed in the next month or so to be ready for the Last Chance Throws Meet on Dec. 6.
Thanks again to Carol for use of her property!

Here’s the sign on the gate at Carol’s “Atlas Field”. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByOi2FANUMbGMVdXZ0JKSjM5bmc/view?usp=sharing
What a great act from a great lady. Love the gate sign. Her attitude is one of graciousness and helpfulness for those who know her and I’m not even a thrower.
Couldn’t resist the photo, John. Added to post.
Will be happy to send in a small contribution. Just tell me how to do it!!
