Renee Henderson lowers own W45 American record for 200
World champion Renee Henderson lowered her own W45 American record in the 200 Sunday at the Open & Masters Outdoor Developmental Meet #2 at West Chester University. She’s 47. See complete results here. Meet maven Donna Aylsworth writes from Philly: “It was a small meet but we did have a record broken by Renee Henderson in the 200 (pending until paperwork is complete). We also had a gentleman in the Wounded Warrior Project who threw discus and shot, but he did not meet either of the Standards. Even though several contestants exceeded the American Standards in the throws, none of the results were highlighted as we did not inspect the implements. I did, however, use my LaserLynx EMD for the discus & hammer portions of the meet.” Renee nipped her own listed W45 AR of 25.28 set at Sacramento worlds. At the May 20 meet, Renee clocked 25.19. The WR is 23.82 by Merlene Ottey.
Renee was on fire at Lahti worlds in 2009. She still hasn't cooled off.

What wonderful contributions Renee Henderson has made to our masters sprint world. It was just a few years ago that I noticed this woman from South Jersey winning by huge margins — her name was Renee Henderson.
I am not surprised that Renee has turned in such dazzling performances over the last several years, and I was pleased when the announcer of masters events at this year’s Penn Relays, Mr. W.T. Lott, yelled out “Renee ‘The Jet’ Henderson” when she crossed the finish line in the 4 x 100.
Way to go Renee’. Congratulations!

Not only is Renee an amazing athlete, she also happens to be a very positive and friendly person, willing to help anyone (including a middle distance girl attempting to sprint–thanks, Renee). Best of luck with the rest of your season, I always enjoy seeing you at the meets and watching you set the track on fire.

Thanks guys! I’ve been fortunate this year that for the first time as a master I am not training alone. I have a regular training buddy now who is an 800m runner 20+ years my junior. She runs with me on her “short” days. Now when I don’t meet a target time on a rep and say “that’s good enough” she laughs at me and says “no it wasn’t.” Thanks Lindsay T. (I still owe you for those back to back 200’s!!)

Not only did the Penn Relays announcer not sound like me, he was not me. He was Wm. T. Lott, as indicated, not PLT. And I know you knew that and are just making fun. When he called you “The Jet” at the finish line it must really have been a shock.
More important, I thought that Mr. Lott treated all of the masters athletes at Penn with the respect they deserved.
