John Seto is throwing a wider net to fund mastersrankings.com. Heā€™s looking for corporate sponsors. He also writes: ā€œThe [$25 a year minimum] membership program has yielded results so far ($39.3K) which covered D&O plus liability insurance in early August plus paid some of the owed license fees. My goal was $75K raised by the end of September and I am still optimistic that it is possible ā€“ it will mostly come from this fundraising effort as membership income has tapered off as expected. The operations side is going extremely well (using the primary goal of inserted performances as the metric). Iā€™ve been working on process and software to ensure scalability and the biggest impact area is 95%+ complete. 25-30k inserted performances was a good month for 2015 (which would require hundreds of hours to convert and process performances). Almost 73k performances have been inserted since the newsletter less than 2 weeks ago.ā€

Hereā€™s his pitch to potential sponsors:

2.5 million page views from 208 thousand users can more than double with your support. You, as a major sponsor, get high visibility to a large group of people, Masters Athletes, many of whom have higher than average net worth and expendable income. All sponsorship proceeds are invested into MastersRankings.com to increase listed athletes and performances ā€“ visitors want to see more complete rankings lists so this is extremely effective increasing interest, awareness and visits.

Sponsors get:

  • A link will appear on the sponsorsā€™ page
  • An ā€œabout our sponsorā€ page
  • The link will appear randomly on every page.
  • Link within each newsletter (over 8,200 current subscribers) to sponsor page
  • Feature ā€œabout our sponsorā€ in newsletters (major sponsors would be rotated)

Your marketing team and MastersRankings can work together so you can influence the effectiveness of your investment. We are open to considering anything that helps you improve your return.

The siteā€™s usage will explode as our plan comes together. The numbers from 2015 below are achieved with limited resources.

  • 441,988 sessions
  • 208,805 users
  • 2,526,828 page views
  • People in 200 nations
  • Peak of 4,390 sessions in one day
  • Two-day peak of 7,610 sessions

The Twilight Throwers just completed their 2016 season, hosting 14 meets this summer. These meets could not have run as smoothly as they did without the help of John Seto and his work on the Scoring Sheets.

With the form he created and perfected, the meet results were made available to the Masters Rankings site within a very short time for all to see. The more complicated meets, such as Throw Pentathlons and Ultra Weight Pentathlons, were quicker and easier to get results to the competitors thanks to John.

As a group, we have decided to send $10 per meet from this past season to Masters Rankings as a donation and plan to do this going forward. I would encourage other Meet Directors to consider doing the same in support of Masters Rankings.
